The “ Masai Mara “ Photographic Safari is the perfect expedition to combine with other destinations in Kenya. This safari takes you to the National Reserve of the same name. It was named for the Maasai people who inhabit the area, and for the Mara River, which flows through this great reserve. It shares a border with Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and is essentially a continuation of this park, forming the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. It is home to an excellent year-round concentration of game and is renowned for its annual visit by the two million animals between July and October that make up the Great Migration. Covering an impressive 1 115 km² (430 square miles), the Masai Mara is a land of breathtaking vistas, abundant wildlife and endless plains. This wildlife haven is host to great variety of animals like Elephant, Hippo, Buffalo, Gazelle, Giraffe, Lion , Cheetah and Leopard which will present endless photo opportunities. The Mara River itself is also famed for its enormous crocodiles.

The safari camp we will be using in Maasai Mara has been chosen strategically giving you access to the main reserve within 10 minutes of the camp. Oltepesi Tented Safari Camp is an eco safari camp located in Oltepesi Village. It was founded in 2017 and made to meet the needs of professional wildlife photographers, nature photo enthusiasts and wildlife lovers. We offer the very best guides in Maasai Mara with many years of experience working with wildlife photographers and nature enthusiasts. With the best guides and specially modified vehicles for photography where you both have a good general view of your surroundings and have access to low-angle photography. Only 3 photographers per vehicle gives our guests an  exceptional wildlife experience and the chance to take home an amazing collection of images.

Staying in a village like this instead of the usual tourist camp will give you a unique chance to get to know the proud Maasai people and their very interesting culture. Their hospitality is excellent. Upon arrival, the children come running, welcoming you and making you feel at home. You will also have an opportunity to experience an authentic Maasai BBQ , and if you wish,  spend a night in a traditional Maasai hut. Finally,  staying at Oltepesi gives you the priceless opportunity to photograph and film the village and their inhabitants as much as you like without the need to ask for permission first.

During this Photographic Safari we will have a special permit that grants us the possibility of going Off-Road if the photo opportunity requires it. This is something that cannot be done otherwise so has to be considered as a definite plus of this safari.
